Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar
69th Legislative District
Pennsylvania House of Representatives
State Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar brings a solid legal and agricultural background to Harrisburg as he begins his first term in the House of Representatives. He currently serves as an attorney in Somerset and Bedford counties, is a member of the Somerset County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations.
Rep. Metzgar was born and raised on a farm in Allegheny Township, Somerset County, and spent his formative years raising cattle and participating in the full realm of farm duties. In 2000, he graduated from Berlin Brothersvalley High School.
Metzgar enrolled at Frostburg State University, where he graduated Cum Laude with degrees in both political science and criminal justice. He went on to graduate from the acclaimed Duquesne University School of Law, where he received the prestigious Judge Manning Award for highest achievement in trial advocacy. In all of this, he brings a wealth of legal knowledge to the House of Representatives, blended with a common sense approach that springs from his farming background.
Metzgar believes in the conservative, traditional values of hard work, personal responsibility and belief in the constitutions of Pennsylvania and the United States. He is a strong protector of the Second Amendment, noting that the Pennsylvania constitution is clear when it says "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be questioned".
Metzgar will work hard to represent the interests of all of the citizens of the 69th Legislative District, and to protect the hard-working taxpayers by advocating for legislation designed to foster less government control, lower taxes and a strong economy. He is currently serving on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Children and Youth committees.
