The Fox Brothers will be performing at the Somerset County Fair at 8:30 p.m. Saturday presented in part by Somerset Trust Company.
Whether at a small town county fair or performing at the nationally televised Grand Ole Opry, the Fox Brothers bring audiences to their feet with a dynamic style all their own. The Fox Brothers music is ever evolving. From the group’s first chart topper to its most recent number one hits, the Fox Brothers have been entertaining fans of all ages for more than two decades.
Lynn, Randy and Roy Fox are brothers from Middle Tennessee who started singing together as children. They started singing in church and continued to sing and play together at churches, revivals and community events. From there they went on to record their first album, “He Touched Me” on the Mission records label in 1967.
The brothers had early music influences of Gospel that they heard in the churches where their father was a lay minister and country music their mother listened to on the Opry. They took these influences and with their talent, created what is known today as Christian Country.
The Fox Brothers received the “Entertainer of the Year” award by the Christian Country Music Association in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and “Vocal Group of the Year Award” by the Country Gospel Music Guild for 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2004. In 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 they were awarded Vocal Group of the Year by the Christian Country Music Association. They received the Voice Diamond Award for Christian Country Gorup of the Year from 1991 through 1993.
They were also awarded the title of Christian Country Group of the Year in 1993 and 1994 by the International Country Gospel Music Association. In 1995, the Fox Brothers were recognized again by the International Country Gospel Music Association when they received Group of the Year.
The Fox Brothers received three Grammy nominations, have appeared on TNN, Nashville Now, Crook and Chase, and even Country Music’s most coveted stage, the Grand Ole Opry.
The group’s main goal is to make people happy even if it is just for an hour at a time. Every song the group performs is hand picked to touch your heart. This goal is evident as you watch their show or listen to any of their award winning recordings. It is impossible not to feel uplifted.
