for event page PICS Weigh in and sign up at 5:00 p.m. Hooking fee is $15. The pull starts promptly at 7:00 p.m. The truck pull, a production of Orlo Ink, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. All entries will be accepted, none will be turned away. Weigh in and sign up starts at 5 p.m. Hooking fee is $15. Classes include: Absolute Showroom 6,500 lb. Small Block Showroom 6,000 lb. Big Block Showroom 6,500 lb. Small Block High Output 6,500 lb. Street Diesel 7,200 lb. Hot Street Diesel 8,000 lb. Small Block Stock Street 6,500 lb. Big Block Stock Street 6,500 lb. Modified (street tire) 6,500 lb. “Outlaw” 6,800 and 8,000 lb. – Fee $20 – Purse at least $1,000 per class – Need all standard safety equipment – Hitch 26” high, 27 percent of wheelbase – Maximum front weights 60” from center of front housing Orlo Ink rules apply. Hooking fee $15. They must be 16 years of age to be in the pit area and to drive in competition. GENERAL RULES These rules apply to all vehicles in all classes: 1. Weight Classes 2. All classes require a minimum of 3 pullers. 3. No alcoholic beverages on track or pit area. Any driver believed to be a potential safety hazard will be barred. Driver is responsible for his pit crew. Failure to observe rules will result in disqualification with no return of entry fee. 4. Pulling or tow vehicles must be operated in safe manner at all times. 5. All drivers must wear shirt, pants, and shoes in competition. 6. Seat belts recommended. 7. All weights must be securely fastened. No weights permitted in cab or under hood. 8. Vehicle must start and stop on signal of track judge, no use of rear view mirror. (Pull considered over when forward motion stops.) Violators will be disqualified. 9. All vehicles must weigh in and pass safety inspection. A 2 1/2 lb. fire extinguisher required. (Track judge reserves right to reweigh any pulling vehicle.) 10. No one is allowed on track or within 25 feet of track except track officials, judges and contestants. 11. No pit crew member permitted on track except to start vehicle and get it hooked to sled. 12. No one other than driver permitted in vehicle while vehicle is pulling. 13. Vehicle must start with tight hitch, no jerking or working of clutch after pull is started. Any violation will be disqualified. 14. Vehicle and sled must remain in boundaries during pull. Any attempt to move sled is considered measurable. 15. Contestant must pull in assigned position and within 3 minutes of sled spotting. (Track official to determine position change if necessary.) 16. Entries close at start of class, unless because of traffic holdup. 17. First puller is test puller with option re-pull in any position. All decisions on re-pull must be made before vehicle leaves track with track judges’ approval. Any disqualifications on first pull bars second attempt. During pull-off, only one attempt is allowed to make a measurable pull. 18. Judges decision to be final in all cases. 19. Rain out (A) During pull, any class not completed will be treated as a rain out. If class must be canceled after 2/3 of entries have pulled, purse for class must be paid. (B) Pulling session can be called complete if 1/2 of advertised classes are completed. We reserve the right to reschedule. 20. If open top, roll bar and helmet with face shield required, all vehicles must have windshield. 21. Electric fuel pump allowed in all classes. 22. All vehicles while being hitched and unhitched will be in park (automatic) or neutral (Std) with driver’s hands in the air. 23. Excessive loss of liquid on track or loss of parts is cause for disqualification. 24. All vehicles with state inspection will pull in only one class. 25. Arguing or unsportsmanlike conduct toward official is cause for disqualification of BOTH TRUCK AND DRIVER for the day. 26. Judges have option to re-pull all first pulls. 27. Must be 16 or older to enter any class. 28. ALL PULLING IS AT PULLERS OWN RISK. 29. No dual rear wheels. The pull starts promptly at 3 p.m. Once again the Western-Style Farm Tractor Pull is coming to the Somerset County Fair! A production of Orlo Ink, the Farm Tractor Pull is open to everyone. No one will be turned away. There will be a class for all tractors. Mod-stock is the class for tractors that don’t fit in the established classes. The class weights will be determined the night of the competition, if there are any tractors that don’t fit any of the existing classes. Weigh in and sign up will begin at 1 p.m. The pull starts promptly at 3 p.m. Hooking fee is $15. You must be 16 years of age to be in the pit area. No double hooks on tractors, unless allowed by officials. For more information on specific classes, call Dave Weller at 814-442-3262. Farm Tractor Pull – Western (Weight classes up to) Classes 1. 4,500 lb. 2. 5,500 lb. 3. 6,500 lb. 4. 7,500 lb. 5. 9,500 lb. 6. 11,500 lb. 7. 13,500 lb. 8. 15,500 lb. 9. 18,500 lb. There will be a Hot Stock Tractor class and Stock class each weight class. First place winners in each tractor class will receive $60, second, $50, third $40 and fourth $30. RULES & REGULATIONS 1. No. 1 (first) driver in each class has the option to re-pull in any position for a re-pull. 2. Each driver has 50 feet to decide to make a re-pull. Hot Stock has 75 feet. 3. Drivers must be old enough to drive in a safe and responsible manner on or off the track. 4. Drivers must be with their tractor and in line while their class is being pulled. 5. The drawbar cannot be more than 20 inches from the ground and from a stationary point. Stock must be 18 inches from centerline of rear axle to rear of hitch (minimum). 6. Must have a 3” hole in clevis or drawbar to accept the 3” hook on the sled. 7. All drivers must have a 3/4” pin or larger to adapt clevis or hitch to tractor. 8. Tractors must meet the approval of the pulling officials. 9. No modifications of chassis, except for tire size. 10. No modifications of engines of any kind in stock classes. 11. No duals or chains. 12. Tires and rims may be changed as long as they meet the approval of pulling officials. 13. Four wheel drive tractors can pull, but front wheels must be in neutral or any assists that would power the front wheels. 14. Tractor must have original shields and guards in place. 15. Three-point hitches must be anchored down if pulled by it. Any visual assist on this type of hitch will give the driver an automatic disqualification. 16. Weights must be bolted, chained in place, etc. Any weights or parts being lost while on the pulling track will disqualify the driver. 17. No weight frame or weight may be extended more than 24” beyond the front of the tractor. 18. Any jerking of the sled, hot rodding tractor in pit or pit area will disqualify the driver. 19. Judges will inspect all tractors and determine if tractors are safe and will check for modifications that are illegal. 20. Judges will decide what class to pull in. 21. Tractor must stay within marked boundaries. 22. All vehicles while being hitched and unhitched will be in park, in neutral, or the engine shut off, with both hands in the air to signal the hitcher his safety. 23. No one on track except officials and one puller. 24. No excessive loss of liquid on track. 25. No alcoholic beverages of any kind permitted. 26. Judges have the right to stop and disqualify any tractor if it is not being operated in such a manner as would be considered safe. 27. Arguing or unsportsmanlike conduct toward officials is cause for disqualification of BOTH TRACTOR AND DRIVER for the day. 28. If there is a protest, the pulling officials will decide if it is a legitimate complaint. (Example: engine modifications, etc.) If they decide that the complaint is legitimate, the protested tractor will be disqualified. 29. Judges have the option to re-pull all first pulls. 30. | SECTION 3 – MISCELLANEOUS CONTEST Fun Safety Initiative poster contest The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and the Somerset County Fair are sponsoring a “Fun Safety Initiative” poster contest. Children ages by June 1, 2008 of 8–11, 12–14, and 15–18, can enter. Submit entries from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday. Premiums $4.00 $3.00 $2.00 The theme of this year’s contest is “Fun and Safety on the Fairgrounds.” The posters should pertain to amusement rides and any of the items listed below. Tram – fairground to and from parking lot transportation Livestock – Biting, kicking, runaway, hand–feeding hazards Horse–drawn wagons and equipment dangers Tractors and tractor–drawn equipment dangers Caged poultry and animal hazards Trip hazards
