SECTION 1 – GRAIN AND SEED CROPS
1. In the absence of competition, right is reserved to award a premium of grade which the exhibited article merits.
2. Names will not be permitted on exhibits until after judging.
3. An exhibitor can enter only one exhibit in each class.
4. All exhibits must be new crops grown within the Fair’s surrounding community.
All exhibits in the division become the property of the Somerset County Fair Inc. unless claimed at the close of the fair. Judges are instructed to eliminate shopworn and non-current exhibits.
County entries will be entered first. Out-of-county entries will be taken on standby basis.

SECTION 2 – HAY
1. Long hay only. An exhibit shall consist of a bale section at least 8 inches thick or an equivalent amount if cut from hay in the mow.
CLASS
1. Alfalfa or alfalfa grass mixed, first cutting. Not over 50 percent of grasses $4 $3 $2
2. Alfalfa or alfalfa grass mixed, late cuttings – Not over 50 percent of grasses $4 $3 $2
3. Other legumes or legume grass mixtures. Not over 50 percent of grasses $4 $3 $2
4. Grass, first cutting mixtures of timothy and/or other grasses and containing not more than 10 percent legumes $4 $3 $2
5. Grass, second cutting. Mixtures of timothy and/or other grasses and containing not more than 10 percent legumes $4 $3 $2
6. Mixed hay – any mixture not classified in the previous classes but which contains 50 percent or more singly or in combination of alfalfa, timothy, clover, and grasses $4 $3 $2

SECTION 3 – SILAGE
1. Silage crop must be named. Exhibits shall consist of ten pounds. (Large plastic bags are excellent containers for transporting or showing samples.)

SECTION 4 – WOOL
1. Wool exhibited must be produced in Somerset County and the exhibitor must have owned the sheep from which the fleece was shorn.
2. No premiums will be awarded in any class unless the exhibits are worthy. The judge may withhold any premium for lack of merit.
3. Exhibits are open to both PUREBRED and COMMERCIAL flocks.
