2013 Somerset County Fair Queen

Kirsten Ohler Farewell Letter

My experiences while I served as the Somerset County Fair Queen were amazing. I enjoyed every moment that I spent at the fair. I loved watching the 4-H and FFA members show their livestock projects and seeing the satisfaction on the winnersí faces that their hard work paid off. My week at the fair was full of fun and plenty of activities.

At the state convention in January I had the opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful girls that represented fairs from across the state. I made memories there that I will always cherish and friends that I will never forget. It was a great experience.

All of this wouldnít have been possible without the help of my family. My grandparents, Byron and Judy Glessner made sure that I got everything done and turned in on time and reminded me of upcoming events. At the state contest they made sure that I knew my way around and where I needed to be. My mom, Christie Hynicka took care of the entire behind the scene work, styling my hair taking me to get my dresses and putting up with me when I was tired and grouchy. My cousin Michaela Shaffer and a friend, Kaitlyn Marteney were my step in princesses since I didnít have any. They were great in assisting me at each event and filling in for me when two events were happening at the same time. They really helped relieve some of the stress and definitely supplied me with plenty of laughs.

The fair has always been a huge part of my life and my family. I look forward to it every year but last year was definitely special to me. Iím very thankful that I got the opportunity to have been a part of the fair because it has given me so much. Iíve made countless more memories at the fair and will always look forward to the next year. I hope that everyone can enjoy the fair as much as what I have.
