Heidi Crager

A familiar Somerset County face will be featured in the annual Somerset County Fair Farmersí and Merchantsí Parade Aug. 21.

Heidi Crager, formerly Heidi Svonavec, will return to the Somerset County Fair as parade grand marshal at 7 p.m. in front of the grandstand.

Heidi was appointed as the executive assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture in March 2011. She has been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture since 2004 and most recently held the position of show manager for commercial and special events at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.

Heidi grew up on a 150-acre farm in Rockwood, where she raised cattle, sheep and swine through the 4-H and FFA programs. She is the daughter of Dave and Betty Lou Svonavec. Heidi and her brothers, Luke and Gabe, have shown their animals at the Somerset County Fair and at local, regional, state and national shows for many years.

A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Heidi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural and Extension education. She is a board member of the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation and actively pursues opportunities that benefit FFA members throughout the commonwealth.

She resides with her husband, Sean and son, Matthew in the historic district of Carlisle, Cumberland County.
