This show is in memory of Chris Shultz, who was killed in a tragic
4-wheeler accident in 1999. Chris was a very active 4-Her who showed
sheep,
pigs, and steers. He was a great master showman and won Sr. Champion
Showman in
sheep in 1999. Chris's family decided to hold a memorial show in his
memory.
This show was started in 2000, with the idea of allowing the master
showmen of
each livestock specie to come together and learn from each other.
The show
proved to be a success with every one having a great time showing
new animals
and meeting new people. There are two categories in the show: senior
and
junior. The judges are the previous senior finalists from the year
before. Only
one person from each division will be named Supreme Showman. Prizes
include
plaque in memory of Chris Shultz, a director chair, and belt buckle
for the
winners. And each contestant will receive a framed certificate and
small prize.
This is the 6th year for the show. The afternoon portion of the
show will exhibit sheep, horses, dairy & meat goats in the Decker
barn. Then
the evening portion of the show will conclude with Dairy cows, beef
and swine.
In conjunction to the supreme show, a decorating contest is also a
competitive event in the livestock barns. With individuals, groups,
and clubs
all coming up with different themes to entertain the visuals of
fairgoers.
Prizes are also given in memory of Chris. |
